Welcome to TERN Knowledge Base

Searching for TERN Data

As noted in the TDDP Overview and Quick Start Guide , there are seven ways to search for/access TERN data from the TDDP Home page (https://portal.tern.org.au):

  1. Using the text-based search bar - this is a free text search across TERN repositories

  2. Using the Themes (represented by the 9 squares in the grid, each from different data types/sources) - a pre-canned search based on pre-defined themes

  3. Using the Map based search - search based on administrative regions across Australia including states and territories, IBRA, subIBRA, NRM regions, Indigenous regions.

  4. Using the Platforms search - search based on platforms used in collection and observations

  5. Using the Instruments search - search based on instruments used in measurements

  6. Using the Parameters search - search based on observation parameters

  7. Using facets to refine search results - search results can be further refined based on controlled vocabularies and temporal extent.

Each of these options are outlined on the following pages and when used, will direct the user to the search results page. From there, results can either be viewed, accessed or further refined.
