Globus Connect Personal Grid FTP Guide for New User

Overview

Globus Connect Personal (GCP) is a small desktop app that turns your desktop, laptop or other pc into a Globus end point. With GCP you can transfer files to or from your laptop or pc. GCP is available for all major operating systems and installs and authenticates to your Globus account.

The following are the steps for installing and configuring GCP and then performing a first file transfer to a TERN QRISCloud collection.  ** the terms collection and endpoint are often used interchangeably by Globus. A short Globus video tutorial can also be found here.

This document focuses on Globus Connect Personal. There is also a server edition Globus Connect Server (GCS) which can be configured to transfer data between lab clusters, campus research computing systems, or other multiuser HPC facilities. GCS will be covered by a separate investigation and user guide.
