The following reports show various statistical information from the data downloaded from the EcoImages portal (a repository for ecological images). The reports are accessible from the Kibana EcoImages Dashboard.
Furthermore, we will describe the following:
How to view the reports.
How to display reports based on dates.
How to download a report in CSV format for further analysis.
How to view the reports
The reports can either be viewed in normal mode
or full-screen mode
in the dashboard.
Norma Mode
Normal mode is the default viewing mode which is engaged when landing on the Kibana report page.
Full-Screen Mode
The full-screen mode can be engaged by clicking the Full-screen
link. Full-screen mode is useful when doing a presentation.
To disengage full-screen mode click the exit full-screen
button at the bottom left of the screen.
How to display reports based on dates
By default, the period (date range) of data displayed in the reports is set in the initial design of the reports. For example, the data showing on reports might be based on a period from Jan 13, 2009 @ 00.00.00.000 to now
(see Figure 3).
The date range can be changed to whatever date range is desired.
To change the from date
, click on the value on the left (Figure 4) to change the starting date of the data. A date picker will show. From the date picker, you can choose either Absolute
(for absolute start date) or Relative
(figure 5) for relative period. Select the desired start day, month, year
, and time
(see Figure 4). Then click Update
to re-render the reports based on the new starting period
The to date
can be changed similarly to changing the from date
. So the instructions here pertain to both dates.
Alternatively, you can use the Relative
option as a start period to display report data based on some years, months, weeks, hours ago,
etc (see Figure 5). For example: Generate reports for data starting 2 years ago (without being specific about a starting date). Click the Update
button to display the report for the new period.
Some dates may yield no results. This simply means that there was no data during the selected dates. Please adjust your date range selection.
How to download a report in CSV format
Most reports can be downloaded in CSV format (good for further analysis or to email the report to another party).
Here we describe how the reports can be downloaded in CSV format.
All reports have an options menu
on the top right-hand corner (see Figure 6) - 3 dots
. To download the report in CSV format, click on the 3 dots
to open the options menu
.
In the Options
menu, select More
(figure 7)
Select the Download as CSV
option (figure 8).
The report will be downloaded in a CSV format (figure 9)

The following section describes each report of the EcoImages portal. Each report reveals specific metrics on the data usage from the EcoImages portal.
For each report values are based on the date range selected (see: How to display reports based on dates
section above)
