Minting a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) in EcoPlots

Users should choose to mint a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) when they wish to use a dataset as part of a published or citable scholarly work.

The Title and Description of the data package are compulsory fields to mint a DOI; Please provide an appropriate title and description that reflect the dataset.

DOI’s cannot be minted within the first two (2) hours of package creation. Attempting to mint a DOI immediately after creating a data package will result in the following error:

NOTE: If you receive the above error while trying to mint a DOI, please try again after 2 hours, as the DOI minting can take some time to process. If the error persists after a few attempts, please contact TERN eSupport for assistance.

The minting process automatically updates the data package to include the DOI in its metadata. When minted, the DOI will appear in the DOI column. All datasets with DOI will persist, and users can get the same dataset that was created.

The DOI link will allow you to view the updated package information.
