High level functionality of the Landscape Data Visualiser

Welcome to the Landscape Data Visualiser

The TERN-ANU Landscape Data Visualiser is an atlas of spatial data on Australian landscapes, soils, ecosystems and water resources available from ANU, TERN and other organisations.

The Landscape Data Visualiser provides access and visualise data from a range of time-series, from satellite remote sensing and modelling, mobile airborne sensors (e.g. LiDAR, hyperspectral and drone imaging), site surveys and time-series from in-situ sensors measuring water and carbon fluxes.

The Landscape Data Visualiser allows users to display data over a map, view and analyse the available time-series for any location, as well as download data for further processing. The high-level functional capabilities of landscape visualiser is as follows:

  • The ability to browse spatial layers through classifiers

  • Free text search of spatial layers

  • On the Map Interface, the ability to create spatial extent and save for further use for spatial sub-setting

  • For vector data, the ability to showcase all attributes of a feature and download the entire dataset

  • For raster data, the ability to visualise data at every time step, view pre-calculated zonal statistics for Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA), Natural Resource Management (NRM), federal electorate, and states and territories. For raster data published as Cloud Optimised Geotiff (COG), and the ability to select a spatial subsetting bounding box to download data.

  • The ability to visualise drone 3D data including point clouds.

Each of the functions shown in the flow chart are explained in this user guide. Please refer to the following pages for instructions on each part of the Landscape Data Visualiser functionality.
