Welcome to TERN Knowledge Base

Downloading Data from the Landscape Data Visualiser

To download data from the Landscape Data Visualiser, users simply need to select the dataset to add it to the map and then click the download button at the right of the data’s title in the Visible Data section.

Users do not need to be logged in to download data, unless they are downloading LiDAR datasets. To download LiDAR datasets, users must log into their TERN account.

Further information on TERN Accounts can be found in TERN Accounts User Guide.

Downloading CoG Data with Spatial Sub-Setting

The Landscape Data Visualiser has a 1GB file download limit. For CoG files, users will need to use spatial sub-setting to access data.

To download a portion of a CoG dataset, limited by a spatial bounding box, users should draw a bounding box, or select a saved extent which covers the area they wish to download.

Please refer to Landscape Data Visualiser Map Functions for instructions on how to create and manage bounding boxes.

Once the area of interest has been selected, users should click the download button in the dataset title and select “Download Subset”.

Alternatively, users can select a saved extent to download, using the drop down field in the download form.

Once a saved extent is selected, users should check the download size is less than 1GB, and if so, click “Download Subset” to download the data. Files larger than 1GB will not download.
