Minting a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for EcoAcoustics Data

Users should choose to mint a DOI (digital object identifier) when they wish to use a dataset as part of a published or citable scholarly work. To Mint a DOI, users can select “Mint DOI” from the Actions menu against the desired data package in their My Downloads page.

Once a DOI is minted, the package can no longer be edited or deleted. Only one DOI can be minted for each package.

On selection of Mint DOI, users will see the following confirmation pop up. Select Mint to proceed or Cancel to return to the My Downloads page without minting a DOI.

Selecting Mint on the confirmation pop up will trigger the data package to reprocess. On completion, the DOI column entry for the data package will have changed from “Not minted” to “Minted”.

Once minted, users can expand the record for their data package on the My Downloads page to access or copy the DOI link. Users will also receive an email to download their updated data package once the repackaging has completed.

After a DOI is minted, users can no longer edit or delete their package. As a result, only the View and Download options in the Actions menu are selectable once a DOI is minted.
