Downloading Recordings and Metadata from EcoAcoustics

Downloading Individual Calls

To download a single file, users can, from their search results, either click the download symbol on the right of the record, or click on the record to expand it and then select the download symbol in the record. This allows users to download the files without needing to create a data package. Note that users still need to be logged into EcoAcoustics in order to download files.

Downloading Multiple Calls

As noted on Accessing Audio Files in EcoAcoustics, users wishing to download multiple audio files at once must first create a data package. Once the package has finished processing, and users have received the email confirmation that their data is ready for download, there are three main methods users can use to obtain their package:

  1. Use the link in the email to trigger the download,

  2. Navigate to the My Downloads page and click the download symbol on the package, or

  3. Navigate to the My Downloads page and use the Actions menu against their data package selecting “Download” from the options.

In addition to these methods, users can download their package via the View Package page, by selecting “View” from the Actions menu on their My Downloads page.

Each data package downloaded (in the form of a zip file), will contain the following files:

  • Audio files in either .wav or .zc format,

  • CSV metadata,

  • JSON of metadata, and

  • Data citation in BIB and RIS formats.
