Drawing Shapes on the Map
Users can search for data by drawing a polygon or bounding box on the map. To do this, select the “Toggle Draw Shape” button on the map and use either the “Draw Square”
or “Draw Polygon”
button on the left of the map. If using the “Draw Polygon” option, each click on the map will add a boundary point for the polygon. To close the polygon, double click where the final point should be located on the map or click on the first point added.
Once a shape (either rectangle or polygon) has been added to the map, users have the option to either edit or delete
it. If editing the shape, users will also be able to choose whether to save their edits to the shape on the map
, or discard them and return to their originally drawn one
.
When happy with the shape added, users can select the “Open Data View” button, which will redirect to the search results page. To remove the shape entirely, users can also select “Remove Shape” from the Region Overview pop up instead of the delete button.
Map Help
Map help is also available as a pop up when the button is clicked. This help content covers how to draw shapes on the map and the search by location function.
