Using Filters to Find Samples
The samples section of EcoPlots contains a number of filters for users to refine search results, some of which are the same as those used to search observation data. The full list of filters available on the samples search screen includes:
Region Types and Regions: Geographic areas where samples are available. Supports multiple region types, including but not limited to states and territories, IBRA, NRM, CAPAD, etc.
Data Sources, Datasets, Projects, Sites and Visits: provide options to select different data sources, datasets, projects, sites and/or site visits where samples are collected
Sample Types: Select the type(s) of samples.
Procedures: Specify the methods of sampling used.
Species Name: search for sample related to particular taxonomic classification.
Date Range: Restrict to samples collected during a specific time period.
Custom Search: Text search, defaulting to an OR search for each term entered. For multiple search terms, it may be beneficial to use AND.
When typing in terms to filter or search by, users should note that filters are not case sensitive.
When using filters to find sample records, users must select an option from the Sample Type filter. If this filter is not used to refine results, the results will only show site visits records and not sample records.
To determine what type of results are showing, look at the tabs along the top of the results table, or check whether the first column of the results is the sample IGSN. Site visit records will not have an IGSN column.
