  • Meeting with Peggy Newman, Javier Marino (ALA) with GBIF

    • Everyone is using Darwin Core Occurrence records for everything

    • GBIF has extended with more classes and types

      • Extensions involve 2-3 star schemas

      • Hired Tuco to do some analysis on the information model

        • Events - Similar to PROV-based model with events/activities

        • Result - Observations, samplings

        • Entities - aka. features of interests

        • GBIF’s event-based model

        • More types of activities (acts of…)

        • More specialised types of observations (data processing)

      • Why not extend SOSA?

        • Legacy reasons

        • Alignments to SOSA should be straight forward though

        • Social reasons

        • Acceptance from community
