Goals of the Product

  • The goal of the project is to develop, deliver and manage a scalable virtual desktop environment accessible via a web browser as part of the Ecocommons and ASDC compute platform,

  • The virtual desktop should have access to a data platform and shared storage infrastructure for seamless access to different storage capabilities,

  • Enable computational researchers to share their data and analysis pipeline with others,

  • Interoperate with other computing platforms like RStudio and Jupyter Notebook environment.

  • replace ownCloud with nextCloud client

  • Access to nodeODM in the GPU-enabled desktop

  • Better error handling in the user interface

Improvements

  • Use ElastiCluster to run the SLURM cluster

  • upgrade all applications to the latest version

  • update the wallpaper on the desktop

  • update the user guide to reflect any changes to the system

  • Run a separate NFS to manage users' home folders to remove dependencies on slow QCollection
