The virtual desktop Operating System
is used by the virtual desktop?The CoESRA virtual desktop environment runs the CentOS Linux distribution of the Linux operating system.
Do you have SSH available?Rocky Linux on the CPU node and Ubuntu Linux on the GPU node.
Secure Socket Shell (SSH) access
Once logged into the CoESRA web portal, access SSH mode from the dashboard as ‘SSH to Desktop’ which opens into a new window.
How can I access my System usage status?
Once logged into the CoESRA web portal, access the Usage History tab on the dashboard where you can view statuses of CPU usage, Memory usage, Time since last boot and Disk space.
Can I change my virtual desktop settings?
We strongly recommend users not to make any changes to the virtual desktop setting because it may affect the working of the desktop . Any changes made by users will not be supported.
How can I use the File Transfer function in CoESRA?
Select File Transfer function which opens a side window, Select ‘Devices’ to upload files option & choose the folder to save the uploaded files. Click ‘Upload Files’ option to upload your files from the local machine. Click on ‘Close File Transfer’ to close the function.

The default virtual desktop settings are designed to service the majority of virtual desktop use cases. However, if you should need access to more computing resources for your project, you can customise the resources allocated to your desktop by clicking the Change Settings button and changing the resource allocations as required.

File Transfer function
Opening the File Transfer tab allows users to upload files from their local computer/desktop into CoESRA virtual desktop. The same functionality allows files to be downloaded from CoESRA virtual desktop to local computer/desktop. It also allows users to copy and paste text data from their local computer/desktop into and out of the virtual desktop environment.
In addition, files can be dragged and dropped on to the CoESRA virtual desktop.
